lyrics

I can recall that summer when the land failed to provide
and my dad came home with the weight of the world dragging behind
He had seen the sun beat that earth and he witnessed it's final goodbye
and all the hard work in the world wouldn't change our fate this time

It's time we move on, to something new

It was my grandparents on my fathers side who had settled down on this land
That was after a similar tale of a serious change of plans
From on the other side of a great big sea they lived so meagerly
But a spark took hold on their dry stack of wood, it talked of the land of the free

It's time we move on to something new
It's time we move on...

(chorus)
We can get through this
Cus we have been through worse
and the worst is likely yet to come
But the hard times make us stronger still

My dad he was born with grease on his elbows
he could fix just about anything
and when stuck between a rock and a place that is hard
my dad he sure knew how to dig
So we moved in to town he started fixing up cars, times were hard yah times were tough
But momma always had a knack for turning a little into enough

It's time we hold on, and see it through
It's time we hold on...

(chorus)

It's just dusty fields, just hardened ground
There's nothing left here, just look around
Thousands of miles, and an unknown land
Couldn't be worse, than the life we have.

Now he's an old man and my mom has passed and the days resemble grains of sand
Like those dusty fields on our old land, his best crops have seen their last
He grew to be stubborn he wouldn't move away, refused fussing over in his old age
But he took a fall and thank God he called and I came straight away

This time is was me that did say

(Chorus)

about

Chicken-Like Birds Salmon Arm, British Columbia

Ari and Jasmin bring forth the old-time-new-time country blues and ragtime, a smidge of intentional sloppiness, a foot stomp or two, and often humorous lyrics with a bit of sugary sweetness in there for good measure. They are always striving to push the limits of what they can do, bringing their quirkiness and passion to the stage for a fun and interactive show that is never quite the same twice. ... more
